  • PC World Vietnam launches its first issue.

1994

  • Mr. Patrick J. McGovern, founder and Chairman of IDG, visits Vietnam for the first time.

1995

  • The first Vietnam Computer World Expo is held.

1998

  • IDG opens a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Tam is appointed Chief Representative of IDG, and the IDG.com.vn website goes live.
  • The U.S. Department of Commerce certifies the Vietnam Computer World Expo.

2000

  • IDC, a research and survey company, enters the Vietnamese market.

2001

  • Announcement of the "Wireless World Vietnam and Comnet" event.
  • Collaboration with VTV (Vietnam Television) to produce the "Choice for the Future" program.

2002

  • Mr. Patrick J. McGovern receives a Certificate of Merit from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
  • Announcement of the "Banking Vietnam" event.

2003

  • IDG successfully upgrades to a 100% foreign-owned company, which it maintains to this day.
  • Organization of the Vietnam ICTE (Education Expo) exhibition.
  • Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Technology.

2004

  • Mr. Patrick J. McGovern meets with Prime Minister Phan Van Khai and General Vo Nguyen Giap.
  • IDG Ventures Vietnam establishes a $100 million fund.
  • Announcement of the "Vietnam ICT in Finance" event.
  • “Saigon Computer Times” was released.
  • Scholarships are granted to Vietnamese students.
  • Four schools are built in Cao Bang province.
  • Sponsorship for children with HIV/AIDS in Ho Chi Minh City.

2005

  • 5/2005: IDG hosts Prime Minister Phan Van Khai and the Vietnamese delegation in Boston, USA.
  • The first Indochina CIO Conference is held.
  • Announcement of the "E-Government" event.
  • 10/2005: Mr. Patrick J. McGovern visits Vietnam.
  • IDG Ventures Vietnam announces its first round of investments in PeaceSoft, iSphere, VinaGame, and VietnamWorks.com.

2007

  • Announcement of the "Security World" event.
  • Launch of the "CEO&CIO Club."

2008

  • Mr. Tam is put in charge of all 10 Southeast Asian (ASEAN) countries.
  • IDG expands the CIO&CSO awards to Southeast Asian countries.
  • Opening of companies in Cambodia and Laos.
  • Receiving the license of the "CEO&CIO Club" and holding the inaugural congress.

2009

  • The first "Vietnam Outstanding Banking Awards" (VOBA) is held.

2011

  • Mr. Patrick J. McGovern meets with State President Truong Tan Sang.

2012

  • Establishment of "IDG Finance Singapore Pte. Ltd."
  • Announcement of the "ASEAN Banker Forum" and "Vietnam Retail Banking" events.

2014

  • 19/03/2014: Founder and Chairman Patrick J. McGovern passes away in Palo Alto, USA.

2015

  • Announcement of the "4G LTE Summit," "5G Summit," and "World Mobile Broadband & ISP" events.

2016

  • 10/2016: Mr. Tam becomes CEO Chairman of IDG Vietnam & ASEAN.
  • Announcement of the "Vietnam Outstanding Mobile Broadband Provider" (MBP) and "Fixed Broadband Provider" (FBP) events.

2017

  • Announcement of the "Vietnam Cyber Security Summit" event.
  • Announcement of the "Smart Industry World" event.

2019

  • 7/2019: PC World publishes its final issue

2020

  • 5/2020: Announcement of “Financial Services Forum” event.

2021

  • 7/2021: Planned announcement of the “Digital Health Service Symposium” event.
