The event is co-organized by IDG Vietnam in collaboration with the Vietnam Banks' Association held annually since 2012.
One of the leading conference events, contributing a lot of valuable information, solutions, and experiences to the overall development of
retail banking activities in Vietnam.
In 2022, overcoming the period of negative impacts from the Covid-19 epidemic, Vietnam’s banking industry is gradually shaping the path and making outstanding breakthroughs. According to the Institute of Financial Strategy and Policy, the current outstanding balance of individual consumer households on GDP in Vietnam is about 30%, much lower than Malaysia, Thailand and China. In Vietnam, only 8-10% of the population has a credit card, while this rate in Singapore is 95%. Thereby, the State Bank of Vietnam declared that only in the first quarter of 2022, credit grew by 5.04%. This is a positive signal in the effective economic recovery process of the Government. Thanks to the impressive retail credit growth, banks have been able to maintain the growth rate, create added values, and timely support customers in the most difficult times. According to the evaluation, retail credit is the “key” to help the banking industry circulate the life-line of the economy at all times.
As reported by the State Bank of Vietnam’s survey, 95% of Vietnamese credit institutions have been developing and implementing digital transformation strategies, technical solutions and new technologies such as artificial intelligence technology (AI), machine learning (ML), Big Data… Banks in Vietnam are assessed to have the fastest speed in digital banking application in the region. The digital payment and digital ecosystem are established with the connection of digital banking services with most of other digital services in the economy, providing seamless experiences in all fields and conveniences for service users in digital space. It is forecasted that in the period of 2021-2025, the banking sector will continue to have strong growth, including the retail banking service segment. The demand for retail banking services of businesses and people is increasing, making the orientation to focus on developing retail banking services an inevitable trend. This is considered a key development strategy of many banks in order to diversify revenue sources, minimize operational risks and achieve optimal business performance.
